The ForeverLok™ design results on the military vibrational test (NASM 1312-7) exceeded requirements by over 14 times. The testing was suspended at 420,000 cycles with no loss of torque retention. Even though the military vibrational test requirements do not call for final torque measurements, the ForeverLok™ design retained an unprecedented 93.5% of its original torque.
The ForeverLok™ design was testing using the tougher transverse vibration standard, DIN 25201-4. This standard tests the fastener 12 times. The less strenuous DIN 65151 tests the fastener to a less exacting setup and verification standard and it only tests it once. The ForeverLok™ design prototype fastener retained 89% of torque surpassing the minimum retention pass specification of the DIN 25201-4 test.
The ForeverLok™ design tested bolts were 1/2" grade 8 course thread bolt. The recommended maximum torque value for the 1/2" grade 8 course thread bolt is 80 ft/lbs. The ForeverLok™ fastener break torque was 159.9 ft/lbs! The ForeverLok™ maximum torque value for a 1/2" Grade 8 course thread bolt is an estimated be to 30% higher than the 1/2" Grade 8 course thread bolt maximum torque specifications! This torque value gives the customer the option to use a lighter and smaller fastener than the competition, thus saving space and weight.
